Texas Tuna
We
were fishing behind shrimp boats in 200+ feet of water. Drifting
squid and cigar minnows on 50 lb
fluorocarbon and 7/0 Owners hooks.
The first fish (20lb Blackfin) I hooked, on the tricked out
Penn Jigmaster, ran a solid 100 yards
of line off the reel. The longer he ran the bigger my
smile got. The drag was so smooth it took thirty minutes
for that smile to subside. After some
photos and we put the fish in the box, I let my dad
fight the next hook up on the jigmaster.

I
wanted him to feel the drag and how
well the whole rig worked. It turned out to be a Little Tunny.
While he was fighting it, I dropped a
cigar minnow down about 50 feet on a tricked
out Penn Long Beach and it was slammed by a 15 lb
Blackfin. It didn't run off as much
line as the 20lber did, but the reel handled him with ease.
Those two reels are
nothing short of sweet!
Thanks again Jerry
