True Partners win MWC Lake Oahe

Monday 18th of May 2009
Jim Perry from Mclouth Kansas and Aaron Wagner from Oskaloosa Kansas are what Jim says “True Partners” Jim is married to Aarons cousin with a daughter attending Kansas University. They each own half of a Crestline 202 with a 225 Mercy Motor. They even bought a camper together to go to all their walleye events. But sometimes disaster strikes and before they could even get the camper insured a wind storm blew the entire camper down a hill after owning it for less than 2 days.

They chalked that up for a loss but not the case on May 2nd and 3rd when they won their first Cabela’s Masters Walleye Classic held on Lake Oahe in Mobridge South Dakota. When asked what he and Aaron did differently from the other anglers his response was simple. You see Jim and Aaron are used to fishing in VERY muddy water remember they are from Kansas. Shallow water 2-3 feet deep pulling Bomber A’s over the rocks.

Their partners found the spawning walleyes earlier in the week. They left them alone till the day of the MWC and the rest is history.

When asked what it was like standing on stage with the BIG check in hand “Surreal and a lot of fun!”

What is next for their team? They will fish a Kansas Walleye Association tournament on May 17th on the Chaney Reservoir. Their sponsor is Sirmansky Lures.

Jim’s advice for anyone who is interested in fishing a MWC event is “Don’t be afraid just get in the boat and do it!”
